About Us

Welcome to Paddle & Compass! We are a small woodworking business located in Southern Ontario, Canada. We make furniture, built-in shelving and custom cabinetry as well as many smaller items such as cheese and charcuterie boards. We aim to produce quality pieces in a sustainable and eco-conscious way, using recycled and repurposed materials whenever possible.  

Chris began working with his hands at a very young age, learning the basics from his father, “Super Dave”, and the rest through lots of trial and error.  Over the years, Chris had the opportunity to continue to develop his skills with many large renovation projects as well as the ongoing upkeep at the family-owned vacation property (read: money pit). After years as a paramedic and Canadian Forces soldier, Chris decided it was time to get creative and do what he loves full-time: woodworking and building.

Chris’s wife Kelly, a full-time paramedic, helps out with social media and the business side of things, and with an interest in design, enjoys coming up with new things for her husband to build.

Summer 2023, Chris and Kelly packed up and moved to beautiful Kimberley BC. They are excited to get to know Canada's Best Small Town and establish a new clientele. 

​

In their spare time, Chris and Kelly love to camp, ski, canoe and hike, really anything outdoors along with their goofy rescue dog, Chilly.
